Schermack Single Unit stamp machine

Schermack Products Corp., Detroit, MI, c. 1930's. This is the little brother of the Schermack Duplex stamp machine. Trimmer and a little cuter, in my opinion, but essestially the same except for that, the finish, and the fact that the glass on the machine above is plain, not etched.

This example is 100% original. A friend of mine, who already had one of these, saw this in the parking lot at a Chicagoland show and bought it on my behalf. He knew I really liked his white porcelain Schermack, and wasn't ready to sell me his. The mechanism in this one didn't work when he bought it, but he knows this model well and knew that he could transfer a working mechanism from another machine to this case, and have a nice, original, working example. So that's what he did, and he didn't even charge me for his labor and expertise. What a guy, huh? Thanks again, Shawn. I'm on the prowl for a better marquee, so if you have one or know of one, please drop me a note.
