Blue Regal

Regal Products Co., c. 1940s, 14". This machine is the first one I ever bought, so you can say that this was the start of it all. I bought it in the summer of 1991 for $125. After I learned a little more about the hobby and prices I waited for the machine's market value to catch up to what I paid for it, and as I update this description in November 2021 it's finally here! Thirty years later....not the way to wealth, but it's a hobby, right? The story of this machine is part of a larger story you can read if you're so inclined.

This is a cast aluminum vendor that's pretty common. This example had been nicely repainted before I bought it, but the globe and all of the castings are original. It's not the centerpiece of my collection, but if for some reason I were forced to pare the collection down to just one machine, this might be the one I'd keep. Not because it's my favorite, but because it would bring me full circle....like a trip around the world that takes you to a lot of gorgeous, interesting, and exotic locales but begins and ends at home.
